Good thing the US didn't need an athletic defender in the World Cup

Piss 'n Shit.

Watford Defender, late bloomer, 27 year old Jay DeMerit is apparently proving he belongs at the Premiership level. Hey, um, US soccer, maybe you should have given this guy a chance, hmm? Ahead of, say, anyone else in that backfield?

No worries, he'll only be 31 by the time the next World Cup rolls around. And lots of defenders in the past 20 years have proven to still be effective at that age. Like Paulo Maldini. And, um....

I learned about the praise DeMerit is getting via Sanford.

If you like Sanford so much, why don't you marry it and start a junkyard. By the way, this entire commentary is like me saying the Raiders should have signed a better long-snapper for their special teams. The U.S. is a terrible soccer playing nation, soccer fags. Deal with it.

SI.com has an article on DeMerit as well.
