New Year NFL Curse

If you are a member of an NFL team as a player or a coach, or you know someone who is, it is imperative that you read this post. It has become quite apparent to this citizen that there is a new horrible curse unleashed upon the League. Maybe it is a wrathful retribution by the hand of God or just something that has bubbled up from the sordid depths of Hell. Regardless of its origin, it is insipid and cares not for position nor talent.

As we all know, Darrent Williams was gunned down in a drive-by shooting last night just hours after the Broncos failed to make the playoffs. Williams was a talented young player; a defensive back that had a bright future in front of him and just 24 years old. It is being reported that it was probably the result of some beef in a night club that Darrent wasn't even involved in.

Less tragically, but also possibly related to the muumuman curse, Travis Taylor, wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, was tasered and arrested outside a Minneapolis night club. He refused to follow police orders to clear a sidewalk so that an ambulance could pull in, as it responded to a melee that had broken out inside the club and spilled out onto the street. Taylor apparently pushed an officer which resulted in his being tased. Of course, pigs never overreact in these situations or lie, so I will have to belive the official police report. Taylor was the only person arrested and I can imagine he was quite bitter after the ass-kicking his team received that day, causing him to be more obstinant than usual...oh, and maybe there was some alcohol involved...and a curse.

In other New Year's NFL news, Denny Green and Jim Mora have been relieved of their head coaching positions. Some might say that they lost their jobs because their respective teams suck and/or crashed and burned down the stretch, however I am convinced it is the result of the pox that has been cast upon the league.

So, if you are an NFLer of any caste, please stay at home next year on New Year's. Players needn't find themselves in danger's way and coaches do what I do when any trouble looms, play it like an ostrich. It is hard to have your head on the chopping block if it is firmly planted in the sand.

Hey man, stop bad mouthing the 5-0. We're consistantly told that for every bad cop, there are three and half good ones. So don't throw out the baby with the dead black teenager.
