1. The Flintstones? I remember, at the age of 10, the idea of a tiny pterodactyl being employed to play records, and saying, "It's a living" to be pretty facile humor. It was a cartoon with a fucking laugh track.
Consider, briefly, that brilliantly awesome movie "The Hustler" was nominated for Best Picture the same year, so it isn't like American culture was completely backward at the time. (please do not note that West Side Story beat The Hustler that year; that noting hurts my point).
2. So, according to The Emmys, there hasn't been a funny enough cartoon on prime time between 1961 and 2009 to merit nomination. So, hit the bricks, The Simpsons, particularly from 1993-1996, when you were, by far, the funniest damn thing on TV, including Seinfeld. Fuck off, South Park--even though you brilliantly deconstructed what makes Family Guy not particularly funny.
3. Futurama? The Tick? Venture Brothers? The Emmys finally recognize animation, after a 48 year absence, and they pick fucking Family Guy? Boo. Boo, I say.

Oh sweet Jesus... now you've got me steamed on a Friday morning. I HATE Family Guy for the very reasons South Park constructs in those 2 classic episodes. I've never understood why that series was ever brought back. We were intelligent enough to see through the lack of clever dialogue and plot once, but lemmings who apparently live in a bubble where comedy lacks existence cried for its return. How on earth could you support that garbage when Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared and several other promising comedies died a quiet death. Boo on you... enjoy settling for mediocrity. I bet you shop at Jared, too.
I know it’s not a big deal, but I’m growing to hate the animation voters and they’re lame picks every year. Where is Venture Brothers? or Metalocalypse? Don’t get me wrong the simpsons is always going to get a nod, it’s just a part of life no matter how bad they get. South Park,again, predictable but still great. Robot Chicken(cool! okay choice). American Dad!?!?! Ahh you kidding? Really!?!?!
Animation wise I just wish for once the best shows were actually honored and not the ones with the most money or on the best networks.
