Redhorns free safety Chris Horton has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. This is a tremendous honor earned by the rookie in his first start: his three turnovers put the Redhorns in a position to win. Which they did.While he is still learning the intricacies of a pro defense, Horton's desire and football instincts should cement him as the starter this year.
Not bad for a seventh-rounder who didn't know he was going to start until the morning of the game and isn't even included in my NFL preview magazine.
