It seems to me that is has been awhile since we did a Round-Up of what our favorite blogs who aren't us are up to. Since blogs rely on the circle-jerkery of the referential links, we figure we better remind you that there are other blogs out there, and remind the other blogs out there that we sometimes drive traffic their way, and they should link back to us, IDYFT, your home for Pros Vs. Joes analysis!
10,000 Takes, a Minnesota blog after our own heart, has been paying far closer attention to the Wolves than we have (though we are pretty sure that Al Jefferson should have been an All-Star this year. They've been tracking what they called Hang 10--tracking the Wolves to 10 wins. Mission Accomplished!
This Suit Is Not Black is rather nastily commenting on the Isiah Thomas' son getting arrested for underage drinking. Hey, do you remember when Thomas was a Hall of Fame point guard? I do, vaguely. Who is damaging their legacy quicker--Isiah or Bill Clinton? Discuss.
The Sport Couch Potato has two sports-media stories I hadn't seen anywhere else. 1. Pete Ueberroth stating his take on the Steroid Era records in baseball. 2. Forbes' list of most influential sportscasters. The SCP is disappointed by the lack of Al Michaels. I'm disappointed by the lack of Kevin "Right Between the Eyes" Harlan. Of course, I have a soft spot in my heart for Harlan, for his stalwart duty covering the Minnesota Timberwolves when they were absolutely fucking awful. ("Pooh Richardson dives for a loose ball. He's knocked over a fat guy in the front row's soda! The soda is all over the court! The fat guy is upset about his soda!"). I can only shake my head in wonder about the inclusion of Chris Berman and Bill Walton. I suppose they are influential. Every sportscaster student in the world should look at those two as examples of what not to do.
The Postmen are commenting on the new US Men's Soccer Kit. I'm unsure. Unabashed preppies, The Postgentlemen like it, and make a hipster band reference to boot. Meanwhile, we are still rocking to Thin Lizzy.
Via The Beautiful Game, we have happened upon this from Who Ate All the Pies. The Sheffield Wednesday Owls are Dirty Birds.
