Oh, they are talking about the Madden videogame franchise. That's a relief.

I love Madden football, but this "University Study" is bullshit.
Who funds these two-day studies ("Does Butter Make You Thinner?")?
Probably media companies, who want to stock up on their "News of the Weird" whether or not it has any veracity.
Perhaps -- just perhaps -- the equation isn't
fan + Madden football = smarter fan.
It certainly seems likely that a smarter fan, a more engaged fan, will also go out of his way to buy a football game and play it.
Scientific Method folks -- you have to test the fact that your theory might be false.
Otherwise we have specious reasoning. Obama is in the White House -- we can believe in science again.

Nope, Wice. Wrong.
I know that Madden Football has helped my own TV Football understanding--mainly in recognizing defenses.

Yes yes, I do understand. Of course it has that effect.
I just have a problem with their "science."
I think someone who knows football well already will be a good Madden player (as well as play it more often) - their study doesn't consider this angle.
