RIP, Merlin Olsen

Football Great, and Acting Good Merlin Olsen passed away today.

For me, and lot of men of a certain age, a favorite Olsen came early in his acting career--in the Joe Don Baker MST3K Classic, Mitchell.

You'll see him at the 2:55 mark of the greatest hit compilation below.

I was laughing too hard to see the Merlin Olsen part.

You can now watch MST3K instantly on Netflix. "Pod People" is still my ranking favorite, though it doesn't have any sports connection.

To be accurate, you can watch a good amount of MST3K on Netflix Streaming service. Not all of them. Lord knows, there are a couple I've searched desperately for, only to find that they are still only available through physical disk rental.

But it is a glorious thing, nevertheless, to be able to push a button and have Joel or Mike Nelson in my living room again.

And Wice, if you haven't seen the MST3K treatment of "Mitchell" from start to finish, I highly, highly recommend it.

It apparently pissed off Joe Don Baker off to the point that he threatened bodily violence if he ever met the MST3K crew. Awesome!
