Quarterback Excitement!--Vikings Edition

You may think that the Vikings trading for and signing Sage Rosenfels pales in comparison to where Matt Cassel ended up.  You'd be right.

Sage will be 31 in a week or so, and has never exactly been one destined for greatness.  Michael Fabiano from the NFL Fantasy blog has a pretty damning stat:  "In fact, he’s thrown 12 touchdown passes and committed 18 turnovers in his last 10 starts."

The Wiki takes a long view, and points out that for his career, Sage has thrown 30 Touchdowns, and 29 Interceptions.

It should be noted that the Vikings didn't give up much to get him--Sage was a 4th round pick, and the Vikings gave up a 4th round pick  in the trade.  And signing him for 2 years, $9 million dollars seems ridiculously reasonable considering that Albert Haynesworth was worth $100 million to the Washington Drunken Savages.

But still--$9 million dollars is a lot to earn for being profoundly mediocre at one's job.
