MLB vs. Arizona

Call it Miranda (League Baseball) vs. Arizona.

At 27.7%, Major League Baseball has the largest Latino population in major sports. It is therefore appropriate that the League's players are the first pro athletes to voice anger about Arizona's SB 1070.

The law requires police officers to question anyone of whom they are "reasonably suspicious" is an illegal immigrant, establishing de jure racial profiling in a state which has been populated by Hispanics for five hundred years.

Dave Zirin has a column about the MLB Players' Association's reaction to this law.

Don't worry, the 4th Amendment exists to protect us from laws such as SB 1070. But it may be a while before the Supreme Court reviews it, and in the meantime, things are going to get loud.

Fixed now, thanks for letting me know.

It must have been the Minutemen. Hey, at least I don't have to worry about them reading my novel. It's too long.
